From zero to Junior Front End Developer to IT Consultant and beyond…

Hey there, based on this title you may think that I’m a super experienced developer with thousands of years of experience. Really, I am not.
in 2013 I decided to migrate from Venezuela, my home Country, to Germany my new home, it wasn’t an easy step to make, but it wasn’t easy to stay in Venezuela neither.
As an Industrial Engineer and a local merchant I hadn't really gather any work experience that could help me to start a new career in Germany, so viewing this, my first idea was to continue what I already started doing in Venezuela, selling spare parts for electronics devices online.
My first approach was to create a website where I can offer the products online and get online orders, but the problem was, I had’t any resources and zero programming skills. So I started to read about how to create a form which could help me to get clients orders information. The first resources I used to learn were, w3schools, youtube and codecademy, I really love the power of the WWW.
To make it short, I really didn’t achieve my first object, which it was to create a simple form to lead customer orders information into my Email, Nevertheless I was complete excited to have discovered how fast I could achieve to display something I just coded into the browser without been a Software Engineer or something similar, how cool is that? So based on this, I started learning more deeply on w3schools about each HTML tags, wait a minute, HTML what is that? LOL :), but it really was like this.
After a while on w3schools I didn’t feel I was getting somewhere, so I started to look for something else where I really could learn how to get all that stuff I read about on w3schools, to a real world project, and there is how a I found codecademy I really loved it, it was fun, straightforward and it was a really good start where I could understand the relationship between html, css and js.
Although codecademy was awesome, and it helped me to build a solid knowledge about web development, I started to have that feeling again, that I wasn’t getting anywhere…
I think it is difficult to find your base of knowledge, so don’t give up to soon, keep looking and reading until you find yours
and there was when I found www.teamtreehouse.com (be aware, if you decide to sigin into teamtreehouse, I will get some discounts and will be thank for that! :) ) .
With Teamtreehouse I really learned a lot, CSS a little more deeply, javascript for web development, Illustrator, Photoshop, a little bit of PHP, and so on… It really helped me to start being a developer and I can just recommend it to every one who wants to learn from the ground up with by the hand of young up to dated professionals! I really loved it and I will always be grateful to them.
After a couple of month, learning around 6 to 8 hours a day (it really depends on you how fast you can and want to learn) I found a job, and it wasn’t as a developer, but after a couple of month (which I used to learn more) hanging on it, a co-worker, had a client interview and recommended me as he’s client was looking for some junior developer to support him on his daily tasks ( you never know who is working for you, so spread the voice, tell everyone what are you looking for, tell everyone you are a developer even if you’r not! ).
I sent my CV to this person, and I got the job! I worked for a 11 month as a Junior Front End developer in Best Web Media. I learned there to develop Templates for CMS, I built Websites, I learned to develop functionality with PHP, Javascript, AJAX, I became a Bootstrap hero! and much more, this first experience gave me a clear vision of what I wanted to be and which direction I wanted to take.
My Journey there came to the end on January this year when I found a great opportunity in a Consultant Company, GPI Consulting GmbH, where I’m happy working right now. I work there as an IT Consultant and although I’ve been there for almost 6 month, I’ve learned a lot! Jira system for Agile working, confluence for process documentation, Team work, CQ5 and AEM systems from Adobe. I will start writing scripts for automation, and I will do more I am sure!
today I made my first step into Blogging, This is my first article at all! but I’ve been considering this for quite a time now.. let’s see where this takes me.. by know I hope you enjoy reading, and if so, please like it and share it to the world!
I will start writing more.. I am an enthusiastic, I like javascript a lot! I am really enjoying learning ReactJS and my next step will be to build a simple template using ReactJS, Redux and Wordpress as backend Platform, if you would like to hear about this, just follow me… you will get informed about it!
Cheers! and lets the code be with you! :)
