Women Rise NFT Project

The digital world of NFTs is rising amongst artists, musicians, celebrities, and some fierce, brave, and powerful women who are making a difference in the world. The rise of NFTs came about in 2021 and became adopted by brands like Nike and entrepreneurs like Gary Vaynerchuk. This means that NFTs are going to change our digital world in a tremendous way as more brands and people adopt them. The purpose of NFTs is greater than just creating wealth, they give us access to be a part of a community, spread the word about an important cause, and become creators about interests that we are passionate about. What do we value and what moves us? We can eventually create or find an NFT community that supports and advocates for us.

What is an NFT? NFT stands for a non-fungible token and it’s a digital certificate on the blockchain, usually the Ethereum blockchain. Say that you create a custom pair of sneakers with your own brand name and then put a digital certificate on it, this becomes your personal NFT which only you have authority over. Once you sell the NFT, you get a commission on the sale and it’ll always trace back to your unique blockchain code as it gets resold. Because you have that unique blockchain code, your NFT can’t be replaced or infringed upon. It’s 100% authentic. Examples of NFTs include digital artwork, music, fashion, tickets, and sports collectibles. While many artists are building NFTs to create more wealth, other artists are taking advantage of this opportunity to build a community and give back to communities in need.

Here are a few notable women-led NFT community projects that are taking initiative in this area:

Women Rise: Created by Crypto Queen, Maliha Abidi, the whole purpose of Women Rise is to represent women of different backgrounds and diversity. The visual artist created 10,000 NFTs representing women who are making a difference in the world, from scientists to activists to women in tech. The community’s mission is to give back to girls who struggle to get an education due to community policies preventing their growth [1].

Boss Beauties: This NFT project has a mission of giving back to women in high school and college that are seeking scholarship and mentorship opportunities. Boss Beauties is made up of Gen Z women who are social entrepreneurs, designers, and making a bang in their communities. They encourage women to be everything and anything they want to be [2].

Sirens: Run on the Solana blockchain by Sports Illustrated supermodel Alexis Ren, Sirens features 10,000 NFTs that are empowering a community of mental health, eco-powered villages, and education. Her community, We are Warriors (WEW), teaches young girls in 70+ countries all about spirituality, meditation, mental wellness and being, and financial literacy of how to start investing in crypto [3]. Alexis is disrupting the NFT space and looking to bring these experiences to real-life with events. Check out her website featuring exercise courses: https://we-are-warriors.yourstage.io/courses

Shades of Sol: This Black women-led NFT project is hosted on the Solana Blockchain with 7,777 NFTs as a means to inspire the next generation of Black females and give back to Black communities. They also partnered with Nigeria’s largest female-led NGO, STER (Stand to End Rape) in order to provide mental health services and prevention mechanisms for survivors [4].
