Physical injuries can happen at any age, but without the proper posture, long-term effects can build up. In fact, poor posture can literally alter your physical structure and bring about chronic pain including headaches, fatigue and muscle aches.

Assessing Your Posture

Assessing your own posture can be difficult, but there are a few key ways to tell if you have good posture. This includes assessing whether…

  • Your head, shoulders, hips and ankles line up evenly
  • Shoulders and hips are level, or if one sit lower than the other.
  • Your shoulder blades protrude differently.
  • Your neck and lower back curve towards your front and your mid-back curve to the back.

Symmetry overall is what you are looking for, and if you can’t notice it — it is quite likely a parent or friend has mentioned your posture. Both good and bad.

With a lengthy background in sports, my passion for athletics started early. Growing up playing a variety of sports, I landed on hockey and spent four years playing in the Western Hockey League. This included the Vancouver Giants, Regina Pats, and Seattle Thunderbirds.

Through these opportunities, it gave me real-life exposure on how the body responded to different levels of physical demands. It grew quickly apparent the benefits that chiropractic care could provide, and I found that investing in chiropractic treatments paid off in many ways.

This led me to the healthcare field I’m passionate about today — being a part of the healthcare community as a Langley Chiropractor. It offers a place and profession where I can provide the individualized care I received. As well, it treats the cause of the problem rather than just the symptom itself.
