Tshering Phintso Denzongpa popularly known as Danny Denzongpa was born in Yuksom, Sikkim on 25 February 1948. He completed his schooling at Birla Vidya Mandir, Nainital. To pursue his graduation he moved to Darjeeling and studied at St Joseph’s College.

Danny has a deep love towards horses and equally loves to ride on them. His family has been into horse breeding. Apart from this Danny loves to paint and write.

Danny had a great ambition to join the army since his childhood. His passion towards the Army can be judged by the Best NCC Cadet award he received and his participation in the Republic Day parade. But the aftermath of the 1965 war left his mother shaken and she didn’t allow him to pursue it further.

He honed his acting talent by joining the acting course that he completed at the Film and Television Institute of India. Here he met Jaya Bachchan who became his classmate and a very good friend, It was Jaya Bachchan who advised him to change his name to Danny.

Danny started his acting career by debuting in the film Zaroorat released in 1971.
