Averages: a statistic that, alone, only supports a narrative and not creates a narrative.

$70K speaks nothing of median, mode, stand deviation, etc. It includes outliers and anomalies. For instance, a few super super wealthy (multi-billion dollar) Trump supporter could bring up that average number.

Whereas a few very very wealthy (multi-million dollar) Clinton supporters would have less of an impact on that average.

Note: I’m not suggesting there were super wealthy or very wealthy people that voted for either candidate, just that averages are potentially influenced by a few data points.
