There is something to be said for Apple-certified repair shops.

Imagine if they started using non-Apple components. They could repair your phone with knock-off (lower quality) parts that may eventually go bad. Remember the Samsung exploding-battery phones, that could easily happen in iPhones with low-quality parts. The repair is a safety issue for consumers.

Further that thought of using non-Apple certified repair shops. Imagine those shops using legitimate or illegitimate parts and modifying (hacking) them to compromise the system. Now you have a security issue, with Apple and consumers possibly being at risk.

The idea of more competition, lower repair costs, more options and freedom for consumers is enticing; but, I feel it’s worth mentioning that Apple does have a reasonable claim when it comes to consistency, quality, safety, and security.

Can’t wait to see how this works out.
