Just pointing out the differences between the first generation of X-Trans JPEG processing and the later ones. Many people say they prefer the X-Pro1’s processing (actually, I’m included in this group.) The way the X-Pro1’s output is different is that it has less chroma NR (so less waxy skin tones), but may show false colors and moire where X-Trans II and III’ s higher chroma NR would suppress them. It also performs cruder reconstruction of the luminance channel, which results in this maze artifact. Such artifacts do have a perceptible influence when zoomed out, but you can’t discuss them objectively without knowing what they look like up close (otherwize in stead of “maze artifact” you’d have to say something subjective like it looks “gritty” or “dirty” or “grungy” or what have you.)
