Why You Should Attend the New Jersey Conference on Tourism
On March 9 and 10, NJTIA is hosting the 2017 New Jersey Conference on Tourism at Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. This two-day event gathers tourism leaders from across the state to celebrate this $40 billion industry. Join industry thought leaders in different informational sessions and networking opportunities.
The conference’s sessions will cover key topics facing the tourism industry today. Our opening workshop, presented by Alison Tarnopol of NJ Homeland Security and Preparedness, will focus on security and crisis communication. Tarnopol will discuss a new initiative designed to train and educate public facility owners on threat prevention and response. The goal is to increase community resilience, readiness, and security in municipalities and small business across New Jersey. This workshop also includes information on how to handle public communication following a crisis — don’t miss it!
The New Jersey Conference on Tourism’s closing session will discuss how technology and tourism will intersect in the future. Many businesses wonder how they can keep up with the changing technology landscape, and the tourism industry is no different. How will visitors arrive at your attraction or destination in the future? What changes are coming, and how will they affect your visibility to the public? In this session, you will learn what tourism technology trends and opportunities to expect in the coming years.
Our session “A Taste of Tourism” will examine the growing popularity of locally produced cuisine and libations. New Jersey is home to over 40 wineries and 80 breweries, where guests can go on tastings, hold private events, and enjoy locally produced beverages. This growing popularity has led proprietors seeking more information on the visitors that seek out these destinations. In this session, we will explore the characteristics of this growing audience. We will also hear from some of New Jersey’s own breweries, wineries, and farm-to-table venues. If you are interested in advancing in this tourism sector, this is the session for you!
New Jersey also features many varieties of the arts and art-inspired attractions. If you want to learn more about incorporating the arts with your venue, we have a session for you! Other sessions cover topics such as satisfying the single-traveler, determining how travelers use social media and the internet, mastering management techniques, and more. For a complete list of session topics, check out our brochure.
