Atalanta were supposed to host their first-ever Champions League game on Tuesday against Shakhtar Donetsk. However, due to renovations at their stadium, Atleti Azzurri d’Italia, Atalanta are forced to host their games at Milan’s San Siro. After losing their first games of the competition, both Atalanta and Shakhtar will be looking to pick up a victory at the San Siro.

The match between the two teams is scheduled at 12:55 p.m. ET Tuesday, October 1st at San Siro, with the winner earning three points. Check back at CBSSports.com to keep track of this and all the UEFA Champions League events.

Nothing will be decided by the end of matchday two, but two defeats out of two would make it extremely difficult for either side to reach the last-16 of the competition.

This is Atalanta’s first time in Europe’s elite competition, and both AC Milan and Inter granted their request to play their European home games at San Siro this season — so expect a good atmosphere.

Atalanta opened the tournament with an extremely disappointing 4–0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb. While the Goddess were humiliated in their first Champions League game, the club has played well in Serie A. Through six games, Atalanta are third with 11 points.

Duvan Zapata leads the club with five goals this season and will start in the front two. Zapata has thrived under Gian Piero Gasperini’s aggressive system. Atalanta have been one of the highest-scoring Serie A clubs since Gasperini was hired in 2016. The Goddess will have to solve their defensive issues if they are going to pick up all three points against Donetsk.

Shakhtar were easily beaten by Manchester City in their opening game of the Champions League. The Miners are perfect in the Ukrainian Premier Liga, winning all nine of their games. Shakhtar are averaging more than three goals per game domestically and will look to exploit the same weaknesses that Dinamo Zagreb exposed in their game against Atalanta. Junior Moraes leads the club with eight goals in all competitions and will lead the line against the Italian club.
