Overland Farmers Market — Fellowship and Fun, Fresh Produce, Organic Beef, Homemade Baked Goods and More!

Overland, Missouri…In the ten years since its origin, the Overland Farmers Market has attracted a steady stream of customers and visitors who enjoy fresh, local vegetables, organic beef, homemade bakery products — plus arts and crafts that appeal to creative thinkers.
Yet the greatest benefit may be the fellowship and fun it offers to people who visit the market pavilion at 2512 Woodson Road in Overland near Midland Boulevard.
“People love our fresh beef, local produce and hot food like breakfast sandwiches and hamburgers, but another big reason people come is to visit with old friends and make new friends,” said Richard A. Kilzer, president of the Overland Farmers Market Board of Directors.
On Saturdays between May and late October you will find local folks such as Kathy M., Donna K, Dan F., Sammi F., John M., Carol K. and many others at picnic tables drinking coffee and talking while visitors from nearby communities stroll the midway checking out vendor merchandise, making a purchase or making a new friend.
It’s a special place. Vendors at the Market offer an array of salad greens clipped fresh from the garden: You might find basil, chives, cilantro, tiny turnip tops, beet tops, dill weed, clipped spinach, lettuce and fresh green onions.
And don’t forget the fresh fruits and vegetables: strawberries, rhubarb, snow peas, sugar snap peas, asparagus, sweet corn, yellow and green squash and sweet onions. Plus an array of other goodies!
The market almost always features live music by performers such as singer-songwriter Daddy Mellow, The Hot Flashes all-female rock band, the classic rock Rick Spier Band, and a gospel bluegrass band called The Glory Pickers.
And several times a season the market hosts special events, such as pony rides for kids or tie-ins with local charities.
The market is open rain or shine from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Saturday and the musicians perform live from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
“Our covered pavilion has 24 stalls, all with electricity,” Kilzer pointed out. “Visitors can park beside the pavilion in our free parking lot, and vendors can load and unload goods easily by backing up next to their covered stall,” Kilzer said.

The Overland Farmers Market is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization managed by volunteers and supported by sponsors. Admission is free.
It’s a great place to make new friends and do business.
