Machine Learning: Calculus

Calculus is the mathematics of change — rates of change, slopes of curves, and the accumulation of quantities over time. It’s a powerful tool for solving real-world problems, and it’s one of the most important tools you can learn as a mathematician.

Calculus was developed in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, primarily by Isaac Newton and Gottfried Leibniz. It’s based on the idea of an infinitesimal quantity — a quantity so small that it’s impossible to measure, but which can be treated as though it were zero. This makes it possible to calculate the slope of a curve at any point or the rate of change of a quantity over time.

Calculus is a vast subject, and it’s impossible to cover it in-depth in a blog post. But here are a few examples of how calculus can be used to solve real-world problems.

Calculus Vs Math

Both calculus and math are branches of mathematics, but calculus is a more advanced field of mathematics. Math is the study of numbers and their operations, while calculus is the study of rates of change and the properties of curves. Math is a prerequisite for calculus, but calculus can be used to solve problems in many different branches of mathematics.
