Global Movements
Digital networks today have allowed for an advance in the ability to acquire knowledge and connect with people, immediately. Everything about digital networks is instantaneous, and this unfortunately has negatively affected the original forms of networks. For example, newspapers are no longer significantly relied upon as they used to be. This is because; news articles can be viewed online, immediately after an event occurs. We no longer would have to wait all day to hear about the events from across Australia and around the world until the scheduled news is on television, nor do we have to wait an entire day for the newspaper to be delivered. Instead, we are able to instantly receive news updates with no wait; there has never been this type of media before. Moreover, the news on television and newspaper does not always fulfill the news that a person may be after. For example, someone may want more information in regards to problems in the Middle East or China, as opposed to a national based news service in which the focus has been primarily on AFL. Therefore, person is able to specifically select the news they wish to hear about, providing more control over the information you wish to be informed about. However, these global networks are costing jobs and affecting the economy. This is because, these days, global networks allow for more public opinion from everyday people, as everyone is able to access, utilise and comment on something, subsequently resulting in people who have qualifications and profession, to not be as valued anymore as anyone has the ability to give their opinion.
