NFL Preseason Week #2

Preseason football is…lackluster, at best. It’s like an episode of Whos Line Is It Anyway, where “everything is made up and the points don’t matter”. Coaches are trying out their second and third string players, everyone is praying for no injuries, and teams are working out the kinks before the season starts. And let me tell you, when the season starts, bros everywhere are going to be all over dat shit.

49ers vs. Denver Broncos

Score: 0 — 34

Discussion: Yikes! The big story here was the Levi’s Stadium. This was the 49ers first home game at the new stadium in Santa Clara and everyone is anxious what a 1.3 billion dollar football stadium can do. In fact, there seems to be a pretty sweet phone app for the stadium:

You can order food, watch replays, find your seat/bathroom with the app. not bad for silicon valley, right? Maybe they should be focusing more on playing football.

So the other big story here is who the backup quarterback is going to be for the 49ers. Harbaugh has been playing his other quarterbacks to test them all out and apparently, they all suck. It was supposed to be Blaine Gabbert, (previously a qb for the Jacksonville Jaguars, one of the worst teams in the league last year) but so far has performed poorly. The position of backup quarterback is still up in the air.

Rookies to look out for:

Jadeveon Clowney (Houston Texans): This guy is a monster and eats quarterbacks for breakfast. He was the number 1 pick from the NFL Draft and his job is to tackle the quarterback/running backs and he is very good at his job so far.

Blake Bortle (QB for Jacksonville Jaguars): Drafted 3rd overall, a lot of people thought he was going to be a bust, and now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon after seeing good results from the first two preseason games.

Johnny Manziel (QB for Cleveland Browns): I think I’m about to board the Johnny “Football” bandwagon also. He will be pitted against Robert Griffin Jr (RG3) tomorrow on Monday Night Football. What’s interesting about tomorrow’s game, is that they were BOTH Heismann Trophy winners.

Other Notable Games:

Dallas Cowboys vs. Baltimore Ravens

Man, Dez Bryant is freaking awesome. I mean, not sure if he was playing against benchwarmers, but he makes these catches look easy. Here’s one gif:

Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Jets

QB, Andy Dalton completes 8 out of 8 catches and achieves the highest quarter back ranking. Beautiful throw:
