MIAMI, FL — 12.8.23— Another Awesome Day, an impact focused event dedicated to empowering teens and young adults through various creative outlets, is set to take place at Dorsey Memorial Library during Art Basel on December 8th from 12 pm to 6 pm. This unique gathering aims to create a safe and supportive space for young individuals, fostering connections, promoting mental well-being, and preventing teen suicide.
What to Expect at Another Awesome Day:
Another Awesome Day is not just an event; it’s a movement committed to providing teens and young adults with opportunities for expression, connection, and creativity. Attendees can look forward to:
1. Wellness Tools and Practices: Take a moment to meditate, breathe, and reset to get the afternoon started. Enjoy hands-on art therapy workshops that encourage self-expression, and spark collective creativity.
2. Tech Expo: Learn the basics of blockchain like how to setup a crypto wallet, and what is a NFT? Discover the power of emerging tech and how it applies to you.
3. Live Spoken Word and Music Performances: Check out talented young musicians and storytellers sharing their own mental health journey through spoken word and song. We’ll also have a DJ to keep the vibes high all day.
4. Guest Speakers: Be inspired by influential speakers sharing about the importance of taking care of your mental health and how web3 communities are coming together to create positive change.
5. Food, Games, and More: Enjoy food, participate in games, and explore additional surprises that await attendees throughout the day.
About Dorsey Memorial Library
Dorsey Library is located in the historically black neighborhood of Overtown which has a rich history of arts, music, and culture and is in close proximity to Wynwood, Miami’s creative epicenter and home to Miami Art Basel.
“Built in the early 1940s, the D.A. Dorsey Memorial Library served a vital role in the education of African-American residents in Overtown. It continues to hold meaning for the community today.
Self-taught and born to former slaves, Dana Albert (D.A.) Dorsey’s life, success and philanthropic efforts are the embodiment of the American dream. With just a fourth-grade education, Dorsey became Miami’s first African-American millionaire and major land owner. In 1940, he donated the land for the library just days before his death.” (Omni CRA)

Supporting the cause is easy and impactful. All donations to Another Awesome Day are tax-deductible through our 501c3 Community Partners. In-Kind Donations are also welcome, and sponsors will receive a donation receipt for the value of goods and services sponsored.
Until November 21st we will be auctioning a Black is Beautiful Digital Artwork from our late friend and trailblazing artist Nick Davis in honor of his legacy. 100% of the money raised will go to supporting mental health, tech, and equity educational programming hosted by our event organizers and partners.
