Best volcanoes to climb in Indonesia

There are somewhere around 400 volcanoes in Indonesia and many of them are well worth climbing. It takes time, a lot of effort, and money of course, but there are few things in life as rewarding as reaching the summit of a majestic volcano at dawn and literally being on top of the world. My favorite volcano must be Mount Semeru in East Java, but I’ve also enjoyed climbing Tambora, Raung, Kerinci, Slamat, Gede, and Lawu among others.
