Stay at home, keep social distance, wash your hands! We all cannot stress this enough. It is important to follow these guidelines and I will leave the experts to speak more on that. Good. Now that you are home, what next? Well… I have a few ideas that work for me so let’s get right into it.

Right now we are missing the days we went to work to complain about how much we don’t want to be at work or how Friday coming along felt so great but staying home doing nothing can be daunting so here are a few ideas on what to do.

Join Fiverr

If you have some skill or simply looking to outsource some of your work, Fiverr is the best place to be. Fiverr models itself as a freelance marketplace for Business. You can join as a person looking to outsource some of your work or a freelancer looking to post your services to a worldwide market.

Fiverr services are broadly categorized into these broad groups

  • graphic and Design
  • Digital Marketing
  • Writing & Translation
  • Video & Animation
  • Music & Audio
  • Programming & Tech
  • Business
  • Lifestyle

If you have a skill in any of these broad categories or looking to outsource, this is the place for you.

As a follow up to this, if the above categories interest you and you want to improve on your skills, you can check out Fiverr Learn which offers courses for in-demand skills

Social Media Marketing / Linkedin Marketing

There is no better time to master social media marketing / LinkedIn marketing. As people stay at home, internet activity is bound to go up. Sharpening your skills in this area and marketing your products/service could be a lot more rewarding. Keep engagement going and be ready to sign up several clients right away or when the world resumes.

Here’s what you will learn and more

Online Courses

King and Pawn

Learning a new skill for work or simply to add to your knowledge is a great way to spend time. I had alluded earlier to Fiverr Learn which focuses on in-demand skills on specific categories. There is a range of other online platforms that offer amazing courses such as EdX (which I use a lot), Udemy, Coursera, LinkedIn Learning itself, IBM Digital Nation Africa and more.

There are a lot of resources for learning and whatever your interest is, look for a course and start learning.

Find a hobby

Guitar Strings

Find something that excites you and learn about it and start doing it. For now, though the catch is it has to be something that can be done from home. I am into photography myself. My focus has been on wildlife but now I am learning on how to do indoor photography (indoor, macro and such) or something that can be done within the farm. (luckily, I am not in an urban setting currently). Drawing, knitting, painting, photography, chess etc. There are a lot of options so find one and get started.

Build a website

Have you always had an idea to build your website? Maybe for your online presence, a blog or your business or side business, this is a perfect time for it. All this is done online though so it is reasonably safe. Many services offer website building resources such as Squarespace or Wix which you can use. Better yet, you can outsource this on Fiverr!
