I agree that the media nowadays needs experts to deliver insightful articles, but chances are only a few media entities could afford hiring fleets of experts. What’s more, should scientists leave their jobs to join news outlets and become full time writers? Will scientists who no longer run experiments still be real scientists? A computer scientist’s job is training AIs and developing softwares, not sitting somewhere writing articles.
I think a more approachable way for the media is to hire experts as exclusive advisors who will consult journalists on complicated issues, write contribution articles or give their opinions when needed.
