OPPO Find X6 Pro v Galaxy S23 Ultra: which is the best Android flagship?

OPPO Find X6 Pro and Galaxy S23 Ultra are two of the most notable flagship phones in the first half of this 2023.

Compared to the previous generation, both have very valuable upgrades, especially in performance, battery and camera.

So when comparing them, which one will be the better phone?

Design

In terms of build quality, I rate Galaxy S23 Ultra higher because it has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both front and back. Meanwhile, the glass on the back of OPPO Find X6 Pro is only finished from Gorilla Glass 5. On the leather version, the back will be made of faux leather, giving a very comfortable and pleasant grip.

Both have IP68 water and dust resistance standards.

Regarding the grip, I prefer OPPO because it is shorter in width, very neat to hold in hand.

Meanwhile, S23 Ultra is much heavier, making me often tired if I hold the phone for a long time. In return, the screen on Samsung is less curved, users can confidently apply tempered glass or screen protector without affecting the experience.

Display

Let’s talk about the brightness factor first. Looking at the specifications, it can be clearly seen that 2,500 nits on OPPO Find X6 Pro is clearly higher than just 1,750 nits on Galaxy S23 Ultra.

However, the actual experience is completely different.

Remember that the brightness of 2,500 nits on OPPO can only be activated when using the machine in very strong light conditions, such as sunny noon.

Moreover, this brightness only appears in a few areas that display information with high brightness. As for indoor conditions, the machine will limit the maximum brightness to only 1,500 nits.

With indoor conditions, both displays do not differ too much in brightness. However, when viewing HDR content, Galaxy S23 Ultra is clearly brighter.

Perhaps when playing HDR videos, Samsung can push the brightness up to a maximum of 1,750 nits, while OPPO still keeps the maximum at 1,500 nits.

Clearly, both are equipped with the highest quality screen parameters, from high-quality AMOLED panels, high resolution and refresh rate to the ability to optimize HDR or Netflix.

Battery

Personally, I am impressed with the battery on both OPPO Find X6 Pro and Galaxy S23 Ultra.

With mixed usage needs, both have an on-screen time of about 7 hours, a good number that meets my long day.

However, when looking more closely, OPPO Find X6 Pro still has a slight advantage in power consumption.

When playing Genshin Impact on both models and the result is Find X6 Pro consumes less power by up to 30% compared to Galaxy S23 Ultra.

OPPO also has an advantage in battery charging. The 100W capacity is definitely much superior to just 45W on Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The model from Samsung even doesn’t have a charger inside the box, something that users need to buy it.

Camera

When hardware limitations are reaching saturation point, the camera is the target that manufacturers are gradually aiming for.

Let’s see between OPPO Find X6 Pro and Galaxy S23 Ultra, which one is the better camera phone.

Consistency between lenses: At the launch event, OPPO confidently asserted that all three of their cameras have the same function as the main camera, and the difference between them is not much. However, reality is not like that.

In terms of color, OPPO’s ultra-wide-angle camera delivers a different color than the main-angle photo. This is most evident when zooming in on complex details such as the brick wall.

Turning to Galaxy S23 Ultra, photos taken from multiple angles have much more consistent and stable quality.

Video recording: In terms of video recording, I rate Samsung higher in two points:

Stabilization: With the same frame, both turn on stabilization, then OPPO shakes quite strongly. Perhaps this is a software optimization error because in reality OIS on Find X6 Pro can do better than that.
Detail: In the same video stabilization mode, Samsung supports recording up to 2K, while on OPPO it only supports up to Full HD.

Performance

Both OPPO Find X6 Pro and Galaxy S23 Ultra have Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, one of the most powerful chips in the current Android world. The difference between the two models, in general, will only come in some specific cases, typical here is Genshin Impact.

With the highest graphics settings and 60FPS, OPPO Find X6 Pro produces a nearly straight FPS chart. This is something that Galaxy S23 Ultra cannot do, even if you turn off Game Optimizing Service.

Temperature is also a point where OPPO is noticeably better, when after 20 minutes of playing, the machine only heats up to about 40–41 degrees C.

However, it should be recognized that not everyone has such high demands. With tasks from basic to medium-heavy, both Galaxy S23 Ultra and OPPO Find X6 Pro handle them smoothly. Even with benchmark tests, the difference in results of both is not too clear. So, in terms of performance, you don’t need to worry and can choose the model according to your own personal preferences.

Summary

Both Galaxy S23 Ultra and OPPO Find X6 Pro are very good and worth buying flagships. So, which one will be your choice?

OPPO Find X6 Pro will suit you if you require a phone with a unique design, faster performance and battery charging.
Galaxy S23 Ultra will still be a safe choice if you love a balanced, harmonious phone with many factors and especially, sold officially and have better warranty and after-sales policies.
