Charli xcx recently hit an interesting milestone: “360”, the opening track and final advance single from her most recent album Brat surpassed the total number of Spotify streams of “Good Ones”, the most streamed song from her last album, 2022’s Crash. Even if you haven’t paid close attention to Charli’s career, there’s a strong chance you have heard a snippet of “360” in a meme on social media, or you’ve heard the term “Brat Summer” being used to describe some recent pop culture phenomenon.

For many, it’s a bit confusing where the newfound surge in fame is coming from for an artist who has been consistently been putting out some of the best pop music for a while now. Starting with her debut True Romance in 2013, Charli (real name Charlotte Emma Aitchison) has released a total of six studio albums, as well as two digital-only mixtapes. She has also co-written for other notable pop stars including Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes. To date she has 5 tracks (including features) that have appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. So why is Brat making such big waves compared to her last few albums?
