It’s the age of the grift and man, is it a free-for-all.

The United States is the holy grail of grifters — corporate leeches,
Bernie Madoff protégé, pseudo-intellectuals, conspiracy theorists,
influencers, fanatics, false prophets, and stable geniuses. You name
it — we have it.

Candace Owens is merely cashing in on the windfall profits of
controversy, selling herself as a brand-name provocateur who seeks to
offer a counter-narrative to what she believes is a Marxist and
tyrannical left
.

I’ll get to the point: she wants to make money and a lot of it.

Relatively unknown only a few years ago, she is now the fresh face of
a rebranded Conservative party. Quite frankly, she has followed the
tactics and advice promoted in many business-oriented and
entrepreneur-driven Medium articles.

Find a niche: Black woman — The Conservative party was in dire need;
women of color are strongly lacking in their demographic makeup.

Build a Brand: She’s confident, controversial, vocal about her
opinions, and willing to speak on any platform. Multiple platforms =
Multiple audiences = $.

Cash in and Diversify Business Portfolio: This has been the end goal
the whole time and she is building quite an empire.

She recently released her debut documentary, The Greatest Lie Ever
Sold:
George Floyd and the Rise of BLM, available exclusively on
DailyWire+, the Conservative media platform.

It’s worth noting that you can only stream the documentary on
DailyWire+, and there is no officially released data on the audience
statistics, revenue, and production staff.
Finding any information at all surrounding the documentary was
difficult. The Daily Wire’s sponsors are not publicly available.

In addition to this, finding information about Candace Owens’ net
worth was an endeavor on its own. However, it would be a safe bet to
reckon that she’s making a lot of money.

The Candace Owens Show appeared on The Daily Wire in 2020, as well as
a podcast that garnered 1.12 million subscribers on YouTube. Her popularity has undoubtedly helped to augment traffic to the
streaming service. The Daily Wire hit $100 million in revenue for the
first time in January 2022.

This wasn’t the only financial jump-start — her 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization Blexit saw a revenue jump from $873,697 in 2019 to
$7,449,259 in 2020, according to tax filings.

Before I go any further, I think it’s important to note that I’m not
against entrepreneurial pneuma or turning a profit from an investment. The prospects of a lucrative career and finding one’s passion through entrepreneurship cannot be understated. If you work hard, monetary success shouldn’t be out of bounds.

However, in the age of misinformation, distrust, and mass hysteria, the grifters are replacing the mainstream. Paradoxically, they postulate themselves as a more reliable source and seize upon any opportunity to monetize their brand through contrived controversy. They are not more reliable, and Candace Owens is in the lucrative business of grifting.

Behind the curtain, her diversified business model is tactical and far-reaching. She recently became a spokesperson for GloriFi, a Texas-based startup, and banking alternative for Conservative Americans.

She’s not acting alone. Her husband, George Farmer, is the son of a British multi-millionaire businessman and former Conservative party treasurer. He is currently the CEO of the alt-tech social media app Parler. While she is front and center, he is the silent force behind the curtain. If George H.W. and Dick Cheney were married, this would be the result.

They’re cashing in on the age of the grift, and it’s getting uglier. The commentary from her show is getting more venturesome. Her recent coupling with Kanye West, who is descending into madness, invigorated her drive to succeed in whichever capacity she’s given a microphone.

Her daily ranting and raving is as redundant as it is reductive. Somehow, a thirty minute podcast about drag queens or some illusive battle against gender pronouns replaces a critical analysis of real global woes. I don’t need a daily synopsis of Kim Kardashian’s life while the Jackson water crisis goes unmentioned.

But see, that’s the point — she’s merely following the breadcrumb trail to the pot of gold. The media hysteria engineered in 1996 by an Ailes/Murdoch Frick and Frack has ballooned into a media warhead. The grift is where the money is, and the grift is creeping into every institution, cleaning you out along the way. Hatred and stupidity make money in America.

She isn’t a different voice or an “alternative point of view.” She’s out to get a cut of grifter pie, and she’ll get it however she can.

The key takeaway here is simple — anyone working hard enough to get a rise out of you, wants something. In her case, lots of money.
