Dear Majority. Please Stop Telling Me “You Stand With Me”

I wonder how much of this is a genuine expression of feeling, versus playing to the very obvious prejudices of various the Medium audiences?

If the latter, then is it out of need for cheap validation and praise from the converted — like sending yourself flowers at work so others to see that you got flowers? Or is it just a cynical stimulus/response experiment yanking the chains of particular cartoonish stereotypes of Medium users to guage the predicability of the responses?

I don’t know. But something just smells funny. So thanks, but I’ll decline the bait.
