I fall into this category but I guess I am on the fringe being on the older side (born in ‘81). That being said, “the struggle” is real but so is compromise, and common sense go a long way. I hear too many stories of kids living with their parents which I find sad, in contrast I moved out in my senior year of HS. My father taught me never to take the easy way out and I have tried to make the best of the situation ever since. I am now a proud homeowner, of which I built myself from the ground up. I have a great life, I’m married, have financial mobility, I am free of college debt, have a healthy savings account, and retirement fund.
It boils down to this, if you want to make it in life you have to make some compromises and do some work to get your foot in the door to build a great career, a degree is never enough. I’ve come a long way from manual labor in construction, or in the food service industry to working as a graphic designer (what I majored in college) for one of the largest CPG companies in the U.S.A., all of which wouldn’t have happened if I never stuck it out after college and taken a jobs to boost my career. Easier said than done, but 16 years later I have found success where my peers have failed.
