Every decision we make in our lives comes with some form of sacrifice attached. Choosing to dedicate your life to the corporate teat may be well rewarded in money but it’s often lacking in self-respect and the freedom to do anything of interest.
Conversely, the “starving artist” sacrifices money in exchange for their self-respect and freedom.
The Buddha would point out that there are a large number of satisfying paths between the two extremes and that everything requires sacrifice. And I would tend to agree with him.
