Daoko (だをこ?, born 4 March 1997) is a japanese female singer and rapper born in Tokyo.[1] She started her career when one of her uploaded videos on Nico Nico Douga received attention at the age of 15 in 2012.
The name Daoko (ダオコ) was originally her web nickname that has been used until today; the name is unrelated to her real name.[2]
Her first tour began on 15 January 2016 at Tsutaya O-East, Tokyo, Japan.[3][4] Daoko was nominated for Next Break Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2015.[5][6]
She had caught the attention of multiple Japanese artists such as m-flo which lead to the collaboration of the two artist to produce her album “IRONY” in 2013 and was appointed as the theme song of the movie 鷹の爪~美しきエリエール消臭プラス~。
I discovered her music on Youtube with her song “ME! ME! ME! feat. daoko TeddyLoid”
And boy, after seeing that video, I became instantly hooked, not because the video was weird and very interesting more than anything I have seen from singer, but because the song communicated a lot of emotions with it as if it was not just a scripted song but something from the heart. You can actually feel what the singer feels.
Since that I have been on her official;

and her Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/daoko_official/
She is like a fashion model who sings music and does it as an artist, if you take the time to watch her videos, it's like every frame has a plot or meaning behind it, the scenes are beautiful and so is she she’s still very young and has a good future ahead of her in terms of capturing the western markets. Most westerners who are into anime and japanese or asian culture may be familiar with her or know her name but she still has a lot of recognition to gain.
If you like japanese music or cool pop/rap music you will definitely like her. Some videos may seem different but once you get accustomed or understand it you will quickly find yourself liking her. This video below is a recent one and it is so sexual and depicts the nature of japanese culture that they are not afraid to show their sexual side. She seems to work very hard and you can see it.
DAOKO『拝啓グッバイさようなら』MUSIC VIDEO:
Others may know her songs but not the actual person because only recently maybe a year or two she revealed her face, as in the past her videos either didn’t show her face or was animated. A popular example is her well known song around the world called Daoko Girl, a “sequel” to the infamous anime music video “ME!ME!ME!” (TeddyLoid feat. daoko). Video can be seen below and there has been many variations to the song from short or long or medium, i may be wrong but there was so many versions on youtube it was hard to keep track.
DAOKO「さみしいかみさま」medium ver.
Even Bloggers shared the view that she is awesome:
Some of the artwork in her videos are so beautiful and stunning is unbelievable, you just want to live in there:
Some may think she is too sexualized but honestly the whole world is and this is something of art, is pleasing to watch and listen to. Lots of symbolism in the videos and it is fun to decode them.
