“Never Miss a Monday” workout! Yeah, I’ve missed several Mondays

“Never miss a Monday!” “You have to start the week off right.” Not for me.

I’ve missed some Mondays in the last two years, and it hasn’t stopped me from losing 75 pounds and 75 inches, going from plus size 2X to size medium.

Maybe if I didn’t miss as many Mondays, I would have lost more weight, or taken inches off faster. However, if we are playing the long game, and in health we are, I’m OK missing a few Mondays if I get right back at it on Tuesday.

Fortunately, this Monday Joe and I got a cardio workout completed. He believes in the importance of kickstarting the workout week, and that works for him. It’s been working for him for more than a decade.

I’m more sporadic. I’ve lost and gained weight several times in the last 15 years, and the past two years are the longest time I’ve stuck with it.

I believe the reason I’m able to stick with it this time around is I realized how my body responds to food and exercise. I also accepted the fact that changing my body is changing how I eat. And how I cook and shop and dine. I also have accountability partners in person and online who help me stick with my exercise and eating plans.

For those who love working out and are happy with your results, you can disagree with me. I know this Monday mantra is an obsession for some people.

For those of us who are trying to make it happen each day, do your best to exercise on Mondays. If you miss a Monday, exercise on Tuesday and don’t feel bad about it. Celebrate the fact that you exercised! I do, and I have the selfies to prove it.

How about adding some additional Monday goals like drinking water and eating vegetables? These tips are recommended for every other day, too.

If you’re with me and doing your best to lose or maintain your weight, chime in. It’s really lonely when you’re trying to lose weight, and it feels better to know that other people are going through the same things. We’re all in this together.
