My husband and I used to feel the same way. Then, at some point, your own life and story gets boring and old. We had exciting lives filled with international adventure and jet-setting work, but even that gets dull. Yet experiencing the world through our kid who is seeing everything with new eyes is so much more fascinating than our own stories. Like the first day she discovered she had feet. Wow — that’s so much more amazing than any discovery I would make that day. Yes, it is a trade-off. Less me money. Less me time. Yet in exchange, I get more joy than I could have created with all that money and time. And as these things go . . . you can’t be told this. You just have to discover it on your own.
