In the National Museum, this is where different kinds of arts and artifacts are placed, which is significant to the Filipino People and considered part of our history.

SPOLIARIUM

This artwork is one of the famous artworks in the Philippines which have been made by Juan Luna during the Spanish invasion here in our country. Spoliarium is telling us how the Filipino people fight for their freedom and the freedom of their country, the artwork have shown the sacrifices made by the Filipino and their undying love to their own country.

EL ASESINATO DEL GOBERNADOR BUSTAMANTE

This artwork is all about the assassination of Governor Bustamante, it shows how brutal the assassination was. This painting was painted by the famous Filipino painter Felix Resurrecion Hidalgo.

THE BURNING OF MANILA

The Burning of Manila was painted by Fernando Amorsolo, a famous Filipino painter. This artwork depicts the idea how the Manila is devastated during that time. This painting shows the Battle of Manila happened during the Japanese era, he depicted the tragedy and horror in this battle.

DOOMED FAMILY

Doomed Family was made by Dominador Castaneda, it was painted in the year 1945, this was the time of Japanese invasion in the Philippines. This painting conveys the idea of what Japanese did to the Filipino family,and many people have died during their time. I think this painting is also telling us that we should always remember and give importance to the sacrifices made by the Filipinos in order to have our freedom back.

PAG-UNLAD NG PANGGAGAMOT SA PILIPINAS

Pag-unlad ng panggagamot sa Pilipinas was painted by Carlos V. Francisco. This painting shows the development of method of treatment in the Philippines, from its first method used and the modern way of treating the sick as we have seen today.

EVERYDAY SCENES

The various scenes was made by Fernando Amorsolo, these are the sketches he made to show the different ways of living of the Filipino people, how simple the life of a Filipino is. These sketches was on the graphite on paper.

THE FIRST MASS IN LIMASAWA

The First Mass in Limasawa was made by Carlos V. Francisco. This painting has its relevance to the proliferation of Christianity in the Philippines. This painting depicts the first ever mass happened in the Philippines, and how the Filipinos became Christians during the time the Spaniards arrived.

RAPE AND MASSACRE IN ERMITA

This painting was made by Diosdado Lorenzo. The painting depicts the idea of what are the happenings during the invasion of the Japanese in the Philippines, women was abused by the japanese soldiers and some of the filipinos was murdered during this time. The situation is telling us that Filipinos became slaves on their own country.

The National Museum must be visited by each and every filipino in order to know how good are the Filipino artists. You can also see in the paintings and artworks made by the filipinos, how rich our country in its history.
