Well isn’t this fucking awkward

Not really, I just like to swear. But, seriously. Let’s talk. Pull up a chair, and close all those other tabs.

Everyone claims it’s hard to find an idea to start your own business. When people say that to my face I want to slap them, but I don’t because that would be assault. So I giggle inside. But the truth is a lot different than that. If you have friends, you have an entire a feed of people who are willing to pay for you to solve their problems, and more just like them. If you don’t have over 400 friends on Facebook, and your profile isn’t public you’re doing it wrong.

My life changed when I stopped using Facebook and twitter for sharing funny pictures of cats and my kids. I intentionally started adding people I didn't or barely knew to my friends list. These people were targeted people from Facebook groups. People who owned businesses, or starting their own internet based business.

So what I did, was find the people who posted the most about their problems, and I sent them a friend request. I didn't bug them, I didn't message them. Just added them.

Then I went to their profile, and set up to get notifications of what they posted.

Now anytime they posted any groups we are both members of or they posted on their wall I got a notification, and I could see if it was a problem that matched my skill set.

Scot was one of those people I “stalked” but the day he posted that in a group we were both members of changed my life, and changed the path I was on. Because I had all the tools in my tool bag to make that work.

That thread is what started thankably.com that was all it took! A post on Facebook, some quick math, and a few non-special skills.

So get your ass over to Facebook and start stalking people.
