Here’s an excerpt from the “Build Something” section of my book, Coding for Marketers:
Now that you have a foundation and an understanding of CSS and HTML, take some time to experiment and build something. You could modify your existing code and add to the web page about you, or you could start from scratch and create a page about your favorite sports team, your family, or your business. You can create anything! YOU CAN DO IT!!!
The purpose of building something at this stage is to keep you learning and improving. After you build something you will become more confident in your development skills and have something to show off on your resume or to your friends. It’s a win-win situation!
I suggest, to improve HTML and CSS skills, you keep developing on jsfiddle.net because it is free and simple to use. When you update your code, that link becomes permanent and something you can always share with people or potential employers. To share your webpage, click the “share” button at the top of the jsfiddle page and select the link in the “Share full screen result” option. That is the web address for your web page!
If you have any questions or get stumped, remember what I said about searching the internet for your solution. I promise you will find it there! If you really get stuck, you can shoot me an email as well.
Happy developing to you all!
I can’t stress how important I think it is that everyone learn basic web development. In fact, I’d like to offer some FREE assistance to get you on your way.
