Tweetstorm: Geoff LaTulippe on Avoiding Red Flags in Screenplays
Scott Myers

It seems to me the problem is the word “rule”. Rules imply rigidity and immediate disqualification for breaking them.

Best Practices seems a better term for them, or tips and tricks, Things that can help as long as they’re not making the story worse.

I think I remember a GITS post about a do-no-harm philosophy to approaching scripts, now that should be a rule!

(besides of course all the things about formatting and typos but if you are a writer you should care about these things for their own sake.)
