RootProject is cofounded by Dr. Nicholas Adams Judge, a political economist, and Chris Place, a Y Combinator Alum. The nonprofit’s pre-ICO recently passed 183% of its funding goal and is open until July 28th, 2017.

Overview: Rootproject, an early-stage nonprofit start-up, has earmarked a portion of funds already raised for academic grants to aid in refining a novel asset-institutional system as it is implemented and initial data provides the opportunity for iterative improvement.

This informal announcement is meant to expedite early applications, and will be followed by a formal announcement upon the completion of RootProject’s ICO in early October, 2017.

Who: Doctoral candidates, Post-doctoral researchers and professors in the first five years of their career may apply. Candidates from the fields of economics, applied economics, political economy, political science and public policy will be considered.

A demonstrable prior interest in crypto assets is required, as well as an expertise in time series econometrics and political economy.

Purpose: To help build the formal theory and parameterization of RootProject’s currency-institutional system. The aim is to create a system that maximizes the impact of the feedback loop displayed below, within constraints imposed by market and institutional factors.

A popular description of this system can be found here. See the whitepaper for more details. The goal can be stated as the use of an arbitrarily designed crypto asset to endow nonprofits with the favorable institutional economics of for-profit institutions, using institutional-asset linkages that generate explosive time series.

When: A candidate will be chosen by the end of the Fall 2017 semester. Ideally work would begin during the winter semester of 2018, though candidates who would like to start at the summer of 2018 will be considered.

Details: The candidate will receive a stipend for $22,000 for one year, with the possibility of a one-year extension, plus expenses for travel to New York or Boston. Regular travel to these locations will be required.

To Apply: email info@RootProject.co with the subject: “Asset-Institutional Design Grant.” Applications must be received before November 7th, 2017. By workflow necessity, RootProject reserves the right to choose a candidate before this time.

Please include as attachments a cover letter, CV, and two examples of pertinent published work or well-developed working papers.
