RootProject launches RootShop, a crypto + environmental, social and governance (ESG)-focused dev shop in New York City, with RootShop cofounder Ethan Mevi.

Today I’m very proud to announce RootShop. RootProject is building a decentralized ecosystem for nonprofits. A powerful component of that ecosystem is our new dev shop, RootShop. RootShop will first focus on building RootProject’s tech, but in a way that can be open-sourced for ecosystem participants, or monetized when appropriate. 10–15% of all revenue will go to the purchase and long-term hold or burn of ROOTS tokens.

Building a dev shop is much more than just hiring talented developers. It’s about vendor relationships, management of complex projects and workflows, and other skills that can only be mastered through decades of experience. Combined, these skills can turn what would be years of work into months.

One of the exciting 2018 trends in crypto is the waking up of Silicon Valley. The Valley has a tremendous amount to learn about crypto, but when it decides to scale, it scales. I’ve seen that as I beccame a partner at the Bureau, the San Francisco blockchain incubator, seeing the skills of those that had had numerous previous startups turn their experienced eyes to crypto.

Just like the combination of ESG and crypto projects motivates RootProject, the combination of the Valley and Crypto is rife with potential. RootShop is bringing Silicon Valley to New York, and adding to our blockchian background traditional tech scaling and rapid development skills.

Introducing Ethan Mevi

Ethan Mevi has two decades’ experience solving technical build problems in Silicon Valley and San Francisco. Tech firms bring him on board when the problems are too difficult or specialized for their in-house teams. He has served as an interim CTO, Product Manager, and management lead at over 100 companies over the course of his career.

In addition to growing his own applicant development organization, as a Senior Executive, Ethan has had a key role in building technology companies from early start-ups into nationwide firms. Ethan has delivered mobile, Android, iOS, Web, and cloud applications utilizing various technologies for front-end, back-end, and data storage.

Ethan cofounds RootShop with RootProject. We’re building out a team in New York, the Valley and offshore.
