Am I the only one who puts effort into Social interactions?
People, stop being lazy and put some effort and energy into how you interact with strangers, new aquaintances and any other human being you come into contact with…
Why do I feel like I’m one of the rare few people who actually try to do this?
You realise there is more strength in Humility and Kindness than there is in being selfish, brash, unobservant and stupid?
Money
Living in Korea I’ve noticed this a lot more …(Im loking at you, American Expats…)Pay your own way.
Be proactive and make sure you’re paying for your part of a group diner or drinks. Better yet, be the one who occasionally, God forbid, actually freely pays for other people kindly and with sincerity. Some cultures get this right, the joy and blessing of actually being a blessing to others — its an honour to be able to pay for someone, it makes you a man, a woman, an adult — have some self respect and spend your money on occasion, on somebody else.
Conversation
Give, don’t just take like a lazy childish idiot.
When you’re with people, especially relatively new ones, have a humble attitude of giving to them— not taking from them. Serve them with your time, your questions, your interest, and be aware of them, notice their face and body language and actually put an effort into slightly “positoining” yourself for their confort and enjoyment. You’re not a kid anymore, stop using people for their toys or that huge backyard trampoline you want to jump on — just think about what you can give to them, let the onus be on you, be the adult.
