The make-up of your dream job

  1. When you’re good at your job. In other words, better than average at your job. We become passionate about the things we’re good at. And if you’re good, people will let you know.
  2. When you can learn skills outside of the ones needed for your job title. This allows you to stay flexible in an every changing job market.
  3. When you are compensated for the value you provide your company. And your basic needs are met.
  4. When you have the opportunity to learn new things.
  5. When you can challenge yourself and are challenged by your superiors.
  6. When you have balance in other areas of life, like your health, creativity, and relationships. If you aren’t completely fulfilled by your job, it’s okay to take care of that outside of work.
  7. When you’re surrounded by people who are kind, especially your manager.
  8. When you have a sense of contribution. In other words, you’re useful to the employees at your company or your customers. When you are, you contribute to the greater good of humanity.
