Why are you different?

A few days ago, I wrote about how striving to be different is a better aspiration than wanting to be the first or best at something. That blog post is the inspiration for this one. It made me think, why am I different? The answer I came up with consisted of the following:

I’m the only former small town boy, big city migrant, once upon a time jock, undercover nerd, math major, amateur golfer, corporate finance manager, dog owner, movie/tv buff, wannabe photographer, significant other, son, brother, jean short wearing, coffee addicted, audio book and podcast consumer, and self-taught guitar player who writes a daily blog about what I see or believe in those areas.

The combination all of these experiences is what makes me different. It took me 28 years to realize I could capitalize on this. When I saw how different I was, it gave me confidence that I could write about different things in a different way.

And if I can do it, it gives me confidence that you can too.
