The 101 Halloween Jell-O Shot Experiment

If you give a mouse a cookie, he’ll end up making over 101 Jell-O shots

For anyone who has attended a family party thrown by the Corbi-Amrani-Weichel’s, they know that the specific libations are of particular importance to us. Therefore for Halloween, a rather odd and awesome tradition has emerged. While the kids Trick or Treat for candy, we decided it would be a good idea to pass around some Jell-O shots after the kids were done as a nice thing for the exhausted parents.

As what always happens with new food/spirits discoveries I decided I wanted to do a little experimenting and see what I came up with.

It started with one batch, then two and eventually I didn’t stop until I ran out of gelatin and liquor.

There were 101 shots, 13 different flavors, and 4 different liquors were used:

For a complete list of all flavor combinations see list below:

  1. The Screwdriver — Orange Jell-O with Vodka and Triple Sec

2. The Gimlet — Lime Jell-O with Gin and Triple Sec

3. The Tom Arnold — clear gelatin with Blue Coat Gin, green tea simple syrup, lemon juice, seltzer water, and Triple Sec

4. The Mystery Man — Fruit Punch Jell-O with Gin, Vodka, and Triple Sec

5. The Why is all the rum gone — Lime Jell-O with dark caribbean rum

6. The Island Hopper — Mango Jell-O with Coconut Rum

7. The Jolly Rogers — Green Apple Jolly Rancher Jell-O with Coconut Rum

8. The Blue Hen — Blueberry Jell-O with Gin and Triple Sec

9. The Red Devil — Raspberry Jell-O with Gin and Triple Sec

10. The Matrix — Half Blue Hen and Half Red Devil, layered shot

11. The Citrus Limon — Lemon Jell-O with Vodka, lemon juice, and Triple Sec

12. The Prunus serotina — Black Cherry Jell-O with Vodka and Triple Sec

13. The Crocus sativus — Half Citrus Limon and Half Prunus Serotina, layered shot

So that’s the list, for next time I want to experiment with natural gelatins, organic gelatins, vegan gelatins, also with natural colors like beet juice, carrot juice, wheatgrass juice, and I also want to delve into using citric acid and other food acids to enhance the flavor.

Until next time, keep eating and drinking and eating again…
