Value is found in the eye of the customer

Value is a central concept in Lean.

Value is anything that customer will pay for. Any activity, any feature that goes into making a product that the customer wants.

When producing a product (or service) there are three kinds of activities:

  1. Those that add value
  2. Those that are necessary but don’t add value
