I disagree. Yes, a low token price might affect employee morale, but if the team is built properly, they will know they have an ability to change that through their direct actions by making the product better. Startup employees know their options aren’t worth crap at the beginning, but they continue to work hard because they believe in their ability to change that.

If you provide a basket of tokens it disconnects employee financial reward from the company’s success, and you lose the benefit of aligning incentives.
