Interesting read on IoT ecosystem & trends. I found these 2 points in the article very noteworthy, and in the same direction as my observatins that IoT — beyond being an overused buzzword .

It’s businesses that will gain massive value and that’s still quite a relatively yet untapped potential.

3. Businesses will be the top adopter of IoT solutions. They see three ways the IoT can improve their bottom line by 1) lowering operating costs; 2) increasing productivity; 3) expanding to new markets or developing new product offerings.

And for consumers IoT’s buzzword status is going to wear off — instead of buying an “Internet of Things”, they are just buying a “Thing” (like how e-learning became simply learning).

Consumers will lag behind businesses and governments in IoT adoption. Still, they will purchase a massive number of devices and invest a significant amount of money in IoT ecosystems.

Are you an IoT developer? (app, cloud, services, hardware etc?) Are you an IoT early adopter? (business, consumer)

What are your thoughts?
