Remember Cory Booker? He’s a MAGA Turncoat Now
Why did a rising within the Democratic Party help a convicted felon — Jared Kushner’s father — land a cushy government job as the U.S. ambassador to France?
After the tumult of the last six months in American politics, I’m having an especially difficult time trusting the motives of any elected Democrats.
Last month, for example, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker shattered records with an inspired 25-hour-long protest speech against the cancerous policies of the Trump administration. He was one of the first elected Democrats to meet the demands of his constituents — to obstruct the regime by whatever means possible, even if that meant depriving himself of food, water, and hygiene.
For once, it felt like the party was moving in the right direction. His filibuster was nothing short of remarkable.
Unfortunately, it appears to have all been for clout. Nothing more.
To my dismay, and to the dismay of millions of other Democrats and progressives who trusted the party caucus to do the right thing, Cory Booker has since abandoned his rebel persona to give Jared Kushner’s felon father a lavish government job at Donald…
