As someone who recently graduated from college, I, to some extent, understand your frustrations and the feelings of being trapped in what seems like a dead end job. Ask any college graduate if they would want to work at a job that pays below minimum wage and most will say no. However, as you have alluded to many times in your letter, most graduates will take the low-paying job even if it’s not the most ideal route in order to build experience for their future “dream” job.

I am sorry that you are in such a predicament, but I also cannot help but think that you made choices that have gotten you to where you are now. Sure they are not the best choices and maybe you could have done things differently, but the reality is you made a series of decisions that unfortunately did not work out to be in your favor, and you have to live with them. Sucks, but that is how life works (no matter how much we don’t want it to).

Unlike some people on here, I won’t call you a spoiled, self-entitled millenial. Why? Because who knows if you are or aren’t one. We don’t know the whole story so to judge you based on a letter you wrote to your former CEO is, in my opinion, pointless. It’s all “she said, he said” talk here and I feel it would be erroneous to pick sides or blame one person in this case.

But maybe next time you should think twice before slamming your CEO in a public forum. Most companies will have you sign an agreement after getting hired where it says you cannot damage the company’s reputation on social media sites. Who knows if this led to your firing, but just thought you could use another person’s “two cents” so you can avoid something like this from happening again.
