Welcome to The Weekly Widget, all of the top Digital Marketing stories from this week in a handy blog, delivered every week for your delicious fix of nerd.

Things You Should Know

· Get your tissues out, don all black and start mourning. The un-skippable 30 second ad is dead — well in 2018.

Yes, this is the fantastic news that Google is retiring the ‘TVC Killer’. YouTube users everywhere rejoice.

· It’s Soccer News again (or football, as we British correctly call it). Facebook strikes deal with La Liga

This is honestly YUGE. Facebook once again taking a plunge into live sports

What We’ve Learned

· (mobile) video killed the TV star. Yep, due to the increase in mobile ad spend.

UK based, but a clear representation of the market as a whole. With a handy infographic for those too lazy to read articles and like pretty fonts

· Always on adjective — a really busy m8 who’s really annoying or a consistent presence in advertising. A big talking point at the moment (not about your m8)

The emergence of live video and social media in general have meant that brands should always be on — this article theorises it perfectly.

Cool Stuff

· Bots, a customer service AI advancement for the ages right? Nahhhh, lets create a 50 shades sexbot for bants.

Yeah you read that correctly, someone has programmed a messenger bot to be Christian Grey — good fun.

· After the ‘massive Swedish terror attack’ this week, the official Swedish Twitter account has been trolling Trump.

They allow ordinary citizens takeover the account one week at a time, when Trump happened, old mate Max mugged him off.

And Finally

· Not sure what makes me upsets me more. Potato in a salad or Instagram’s new multiple photo function

Singlehandedly destroying its identity, this new function looks to amalgamate multiple photos in a post. Boooo-Urns
