The Excess of Less

Totally. Even DIY, thrifty minimalism (which I am all for and really try to practice) requires resources and stuff. But I think the techno-globetrotting minimalists with their Instagram inspiration feeds are speaking to a specific audience — one that can afford to mindlessly consume and could use some inspiration to live a different kind of life. While it has never spoken to me personally (what with my collection of glass bottles for a structure I might eventually build), I can totally get behind the idea of letting go of the need to have a closetful of clothes and 15 pairs of shoes and a new iPhone every year.
