My Eye-patch

It’s been a while since I've been really sick or had some disease so I was definitely overdue for something bad to happen to me. And that “bad thing” that just had to happen was scratching my cornea. I fell asleep with my contacts in last Monday night. The next morning when I woke up, my eye felt irritated and a little dried out, but I didn’t think anything of it. Then, an hour later when I took my contact out, I scratched my cornrea. I guess the dried out contact was turning back into plastic and that’s what scratched my eye.

Before I realized I scratched my eye, I thought I just had pink eye again. The light was bothering me and my eye was all red and kept tearing up all throughout the day. I had to wear sunglasses to basketball practice because the light bothered me too much. The next morning, my eye was ten times worse than the day before and I was in so much pain. I didn’t think it was pink eye anymore, so my dad took me to the doctors. The doctor put some dye in my eye and looked at it with a fluroescent lightbulb and said I definitely scratched my cornea. He also said that the excruciating pain I was feeling was from blinking because blinking will irritate and hurt the scratch even more. To make this stop, he told me I had to wear an eye patch for two days so the scratch can heal. So on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, I had to spend all day with my entire family wearing an eye patch and the pirate jokes would not stop coming. I didn’t care so much about the jokes because I really did look funny with an eye patch on. I was just extremely mad and annoyed that I could only see with one eye because it was really screwing up my vision. I really hope that this is the last of my problems with my eyes because not being able to see is one of the worst things there is.
