Many, Many Mouths and Not Enough Ears (or my next 30 days of writing).

This is the number one reason the internet frustrates me: everybody is talking and nobody is listening.

Some people are doing it right, sharing and engaging simultaneously. Most people are not. Most people are talking and posting and then shutting down and not listening to anyone else.

There is this giant hole in the internet where the compassion is meant to be.

I am not free of guilt. I have been posting daily on Medium (give or take a couple of days) for a few weeks now, and I have been doing a lot of talking and not a lot of listening.

This is no one’s fault but my own. It’s certainly not a fault of Medium. I love Medium. It excites me. This platform is attempting to connect people and providing a space for the storytellers.

But storytelling is a two-way street, isn’t it? To tell you story you have to have a listener.

So I’m changing my challenge up. For the next 30 days, instead of posting my own story, I am going to comment on the stories of others.

Long replies, short replies — who knows? It’s about giving out buckets of love. It is about making people know they are valued and that their contribution to this world, this platform, this industry — it is all noticed, valued, and appreciated.
