What is There to be Thankful for This Thanksgiving

By: Nicole Cayer

As we celebrate Thanksgiving this year, I am reminded of how lucky we are to live in this country we call Canada.

I’m thankful we live in a country where I don’t fear for my safety and food is in abundance.

I’m thankful I live in a country that respects women. As I come and go as I please, work at a job I enjoy and get paid fairly.

I’m thankful I live in a country that welcomes diversity and sees this diversity as a strength, not a weakness.

A country that doesn’t reject others because of how they look or speak or pray. But instead, we do our best to welcome everyone with open arms.

A country which strives to live a life of hope rather than a life of fear.

By no means are we perfect but I truly believe we are doing things right. And, from the bottom of my heart, I’m so thankful for that.
