America

I inhale animated recaps recounting the last 400 years of American history, designed to be binged by test prepping 17 year olds

It’s comforting , laughingly cold water incredulous we have the balls to call 2020 a year for the trash-bag

As if our landfills weren’t already filled high with our disappointments; truthfully the only kind lie through history is also the cruelest: individual choice

Congratulations, you won the lottery of privilege; born into the era of streaming , sex at your fingertips, and not being permanently concerned with possibilities of death by disease or starvation

The news was to be seen with half lid eyes, another place, an other’s suffering

we looked through the chaos of existence focused only on finding a mirror

Faces pressed against glass, what did Midas last misplace before losing everything?

How did we forget we are living inside an explosion?

How do we live in one after remembering ?
