The Myth of Overnight Success in the Political Industry: Nicole Schlinger Campaigns & Elections Article

Recently Campaigns & Elections magazine published my second article on how to survive and thrive in the political industry.
Politics is full of young wunderkinds, typically with one successful campaign under their belt they are ready to revolutionize how elections are won in America. But make sure you don’t blink … they’ll be gone before you know it.
The reality is that winning elections — like most things worth doing — is in the immortal words of Donald Rumsfeld, “A long, hard slog.”
To be successful over the course of a lifetime, you’ll need to put in your proverbial 10,000 hours. (h/t Malcolm Gladwell)
In this article, I discuss the myth of overnight success in the political industry, and share the truth that most successful people are like an iceberg. You only see the 2% glory and the 98% hard work and struggle is hidden from view.
I hope you enjoy the article. If you do, please let me know!
