At any rate, U of C currently has safe spaces and approves of the use of trigger warnings at the professors’ discretion. So it’s the practices that they themselves have in place that they ostensibly don’t support.
Likely explanation is that the letter was actually about posturing for donors. None of the other possible reasons for this contradiction reflect well on the school.
