Dropping off a Resume in-person

In a day where online applications, applicant tracking systems and email prevail as frequently used methods for transmitting your resume to potential employers, dropping off your resume in person is a way to ensure your resume is given to the recruiter or hiring manager. You needn’t worry about being perceived as pushy or desperate — applicants who show up with resume in hand are generally perceived as motivated job seekers who want their resumes to receive personal attention.

If you want this job enough to get into your car and shoot across town to deliver your application in person, that’s a strong sign of interest, and it suggests that you’ve done some research and you plan to say yes to the position if it’s offered.

The benefits of in-person resume dropping, I decided to drop my resume at Crescent Textile Mills Limited. As I was going to complete my post-graduate degree in five months, I was really looking for the job opportunity where I can flourish further. I design my resume and cover letter according to the company’s job description and prepared my elevator pitch.

I decided to drop of my Resume to Mr Rashid Roaf finance assistance in Crescent Textile Mills Limited. He is just a very nice person. I was already prepared to face the security guard and that’s exactly what happened. I told him that I want to meet Mr. Rashid Roaf confidently and he directs me where I can meet him.

I met with Mr. Rashid Roaf after 20 minutes of waiting because he was buy in another meeting. First of all I say Assalam-O-Alaikum and introduce myself via elevator pitch. Then I tell him the purpose of visiting and handover my resume and cover letter to him. He had a slight look on my resume and cover letter and said, it is good effort to handover resume and cover letter in person. He appreciate my passion about job and give some brief information of company. I told him I am just here to drop off my resume for further recruitment process.

There are the more advantages to drop of a resume in person. A lot of confidence developed how to talk with HR recruiter in interview. You become well familiar with recruiter before interview.It favors you that at time of interview recruiter are on your side.

Delivering your resume in person shows that you really want the job. It reflect you passion for job and company. A personal drop-off shows fearlessness and commitment.

Before the in person drop you should e-mail to HR and schedule your visit. If you make an unscheduled visit, you more likely meet a receptionist tell you that the hiring manager is busy, unavailable or unwilling to see you. It was very informative experience for me.
